Last week Werder manager Klaus Allofs secured the transfer of Mehmet Ekici to Werder Bremen. The 21-year-old midfielder was officially introduced in Bremen on Monday. ... the decision in favour of Werder Bremen:
The decision was not difficult for me and I quickly decided in favour of Werder. I sat together with my family and my agent and thought about what was best for me - as you can see, now I'm sitting here (laughs). I would like to continue to develop as a player and my character. Werder Bremen is a good address for that.

...personal and team goals:
Every player has the goal of being successful. That's exactly what I want here too. I would like to play among the leaders with this team. And we have the qualifications to do that. But we will have to give our all. In addition, I would like to be compared with great players.

...the decision against Bayern Munich:
I considered returning to Bayern Munich. But it's important for a young player to play. That will certainly not be easy here, but the competition with Bayern is huge. Every player there is a star.

...his favourite club in Turkey:
Ever since I was a kid, I was a fan of Galatasaray Istanbul, just like my father. My mother however supports Fenerbahce. I think as a footballer it doesn't matter what team you're a fan of. What's important is giving your all for the club for which you play.

... his hobbies:
I like to relax in my free time and spend time with my family and girlfriend Jarmusch. Otherwise I like to play FIFA on PlayStation and like to go to the movies.
