The German Football Federation (DFB) gave in to the wishes of Robin Dutt and SV Werder Bremen and agreed on Monday to cancel Dutt's contract as DFB director of sports until 2016, freeing the way for Dutt to become the successor to Thomas Schaaf as head coach for the Green-Whites. The 48-year-old Dutt is signing a three-year contract with SVW until 30 June 2016.

"With Robin Dutt, we acquired our ideal candidate for our coaching post and we are convinced that we will have a successful new start with him. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the DFB that those responsible made the move possible with his release," said Werder manager Thomas Eichin.

"I would also like to especially thank the DFB. On the one hand for complying with my wish and on the other hand the appreciation I experienced from those responsible and my fellow employees. I am very happy to be going back to the coaching bench. Werder Bremen is a great club and a very intriguing job which I will approach with great dedication," said Dutt.

Robin Dutt will be officially introduced as new head coach on Tuesday 28 May 2013 at a press conference at 11:30 a.m. at Bremen's Weser Stadium.

Before becoming the DFB director of sports, Dutt had served as head coach for SC Freiburg from 2007-2011, replacing the long-time coach Volker Finke and bringing them back to the Bundesliga. After that, Dutt moved to Bayer Leverkusen where he coached the team in 2011-12.
