Werder will kick off their 2011-12 campaign with their first round German DFB Cup match at third division side Heidenheim on Saturday 30 July 2011 at 3:30 p.m. The game will be played at the Voith Arena in Heidenheim. While it will be the first official match for the Green-Whites after four weeks of intensive preparations, Heidenheim will begin their season a week earlier in the third division against Kickers Offenbach.
