The sixth SV Werder fan club Christmas party took place on Sunday for about 500 Werder fans. Representatives from about 250 fan clubs celebrated the Christmas time along with players, the coaching staff and club management.
The highlight of the event, which took place in Weser Stadium's VIP Club East, was the discussions between the fans and the Werder players. In a relaxed atmosphere, they talked about the nearly-complete first half of the season, highs and lows of the year but also about a lot of things off the pitch. The fans were thrilled about their chance to chat with their favourite players. "It was really nice that you also had the chance to talk to the players privately," said Markus Helmke from the Nordic Crew Bremen 05.

"It's unique how open-minded and open the players acted around us," added Danny Chimm, one of two representatives from Green White Devine Supporters. Chimm spent much of the time talking to Joseph Akpala. "I think it's impressive how many fans came. It's also interesting to talk to them," said the new striker, who also impressed the fans with his German language skills. "You call the fans here the 12th man and there is a really close relationship between the fans and club. I noticed that right from the very beginning," said Akpala.
In the end, the players, fans and officials left satisfied and a smile on their face. The 2012 fan club Christmas party was a successful event.
