Marko Arnautovic and Eljero Elia will be kept out of SV Werder Bremen training and game action until the end of the season. Management and head coach Thomas Schaaf notified the Werder players of the decision Monday afternoon.
"We need the full concentration of every individual player for the final stretch of the league. We made clear once again to Marko Arnautovic and Eljero Elia that their behaviour was detrimental to the team. Both of them will complete a co-ordinated training program away from the professional squad," said Werder manager of sports Thomas Eichin.
Arnautovic was stopped by police overnight Friday at about 3 a.m. on the A1 highway towards Osnabrück for speeding. When Arnautovic was stopped, Elia pulled over as well in his car. Alcohol was not involved in the incident.
