SV Werder Bremen will increase their coaching staff starting next season with the addition of Alexander Nouri. The former Werder player and current head coach of the Regionalliga league club VfB Oldenburg will be instituted as an important intermediary between head coach Robin Dutt and U23 coach Viktor Skripnik. The 34-year-old Nouri signed a three-year deal with the Green-Whites.
"We are happy about acquiring a young coach who already has some experience and fits in excellently with us not only because of his Werder past. His addition is an important step in our desired closer connection between the professional team and the U23 team," said manager Thomas Eichin.
Up until 2001, Nouri played 70 Regionalliga matches for Werder's amateur team. "The new job is a major challenge for me and it's a chance for me to work at the place where I started my career as a player. I want to help to develop great players and achieve great things," said Nouri, who also emphasised his appreciation to VfB Oldenburg. "I really had a good time here and will always be thankful for the chance that the club gave me."
Dutt is convinced of the quality of the new addition. "We could tell already in the first talks that he really fits in with us excellently. I am looking forward to working together," said the Bundesliga coach.
The coming season will see Nouri also act as an assistant coach a number of times with the U23s. "With Torsten Frings and Florian Kohfeldt, we have two members of the U23 coaching staff who will travel to Cologne for coaching clinics. The focus will then be on him during this time," said Eichin.
