Two halves of football, two different stories. The Green Whites did very well against Leverkusen in the first half, but in the second half it was as if "someone had pulled the plug," in the words of chairman Thomas Eichin. The frustration after their third loss in a row in the busy week was clear on the faces of Junuzovic, Lukimya and Co. "I'm sure everyone can imagine how angry we are," said Clemens Fritz.

The feeling after today's match was very different to after the back to back victories against Mönchengladbach and Hoffenheim. "We were in a very good place a short while ago, now we are all disappointed. We let ourselves down as a group, but we will work hard to amend this and keep our heads held high. The Bundesliga can change very quickly and we will make sure we get back to winning ways," said Eichin.

Werder.de gathered the thoughts of those involved. You can read the most important points here.

On the game itself:

Clemens Fritz: "In the first half we limited Leverkusen's chances, were brave going forward and were unlucky to go behind. We were definitely in the game at that point, but lost it in the second half. We were playing a very strong Leverkusen side, who have quality all over the pitch. We were running after them for a lot of the time."

Thomas Eichin: "We can be pleased with our perfromance in the first half. We countered well and had a couple of good chances to score. After the break, it was as if the plug had been pulled, or as if someone had put sleeping bills into our drinks. I had a good feeling in the changing room at half time, but we lost our courage and lacked heart . Leverkusen were a lot more engaged, and we threw the game away."

Viktor Skripnik: "In the first half we tried everything, the second half was a catastrophe. I have never seen my team play so poorly. I don't really have an explanation. We spoke about the positives at half time. Tomorrow I will talk to the team, and won't be pleasant. We are certainly not clueless though, my colleagues and I have experienced everything before in football. We know what we need to do."

Zlatko Junuzovic: "There's a lot of frustration. The first half was okay, the second was rubbish. Everything tried but nothing came off. We were always one or two steps behind them, and weren't able to built any prolonged pressure on the opposition. The 0-3 was completely deserved and it could have been a lot worse."

Santiago Garcia: "The first goal we conceded was very unlucky. It was difficult for us after that. Leverkusen are a superb team. Today was not our finest day."

On the three-match week:

Thomas Eichin: "Of course we had hoped to get some points, but there's no point wallowing in what could have been. We have faced three difficult opponents, and we haven't performed as a team. There's no single players that can be singled out."

Viktor Skripnik: "We are very disappointed. Three losses in one week is bitter. We wanted to react well after losing against Ingolstadt and Darmstadt. Unfortunately we couldn't manage it."

On the match against Hannover:

Santiago Garcia: "Hannover are a very good team, but we have the quality to beat them. We have to keep working, we're capable of playing football and have a lot of good lads in the team."

Thomas Eichin: "We have to make it difficult for them on Saturday. We know what is expected of us. Hannover will fight until the very end for the points."
