He took a touch, a quick step inside, took a look up before firing the perfect shot into the top right hand corner. Franco Di Santo's goal in the 36th minute against SC Freiburg showed once again how important the Argentinean is for SV Werder. "Franco is an exceptional striker," said Thomas Eichin after the game: "He's always good for a goal."
Manager Viktor Skripnik was likewise full of praise for the striker: "He's a very effective striker, who is extremely important for us. We work well as a team against the ball but then we need someone who can score goals. He's already scored twelve goals and that's very important for us," knows Bremen's coach, who puts him amongst the Green-Whites top scorers: "Werder have always had good strikers. When I was playing they were Ailton, then Klose and after that Pizarro," said Skripnik.
"We're happy that we have Franco. He's a player who can always cause the opposition trouble. His goal was world class. You can't say much more than that," said Fin Bartels about his teammate. "It was a superb strike. It's definitely a contender for goal of the month," said Philipp Bargfrede. Raphael Wolf added: (whilst winking) "It wasn't bad. I know of his shooting quality from training because he's done it before. You can't do anything about it as a goalkeeper."
Di Santo will miss next weekend's game against FC Bayern after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season. ""It's unfortunate that he'll be missing but it'll be him that's most annoyed because he wants to play against Bayern and wanted to test himself against the best," knows Viktor Skripnik. The Argentinean will be back for the away game in Köln.
