Celebrations in the stadium, a promising position in the table and even the opposition were left in awe. Werder's 3-2 victory over FC Augsburg, the team's fifth consecutive Bundesliga win, gave a lot of reasons to dream of international competition.

However, Junuzovic, Bartels and co. appear realistic. "We know where we've come from," explained Fin Bartels. "There are difficult tasks ahead," added Junuzovic. Manager Viktor Skripnik remained down-to-earth in his summary: "We should be proud but we still have lots more to do."

The team can only briefly enjoy the result against this season's surprise package in the Bundesliga before getting ready for the next game. WERDER.DE got all the match reaction after the final whistle.

Thoughts on the game:

Fin Bartels: "It was a really good game for us, especially the defence. Normally they do all the dirty work but are hardly praised; however, today they are the focus which pleases me. Lots of things are working at the moment but there are still one or two errors that we need to iron out. We made it too difficult for ourselves at the end. You could say that we became too relaxed before the final whistle and already thought the game was won which is something we need to work on. It's nice when you're getting results but there are still things that you can improve."

Viktor Skripnik: "We're pleased to have got the three points. That's what counts at the end of the day. We dominated fourth placed Augsburg and had lots of chances. It was a quality performance. It's clear that we could have wrapped the game up earlier but when you have such a problem, you can only congratulate yourselves on all the chances you've created. We played some very attractive football which thrilled the spectators.

Assani Lukimya: "We played well. The set-pieces helped us. I also think that we created a lot more chances in the game than we have done in a long time. Everybody worked well together in defence and we haven't let much through."

Zlatko Junuzovic: "We certainly wanted the fifth victory in a row and we got it. We showed key qualities on the pitch today, fighting spirit and togetherness, so everything else stemmed from that. We should have been much more clinical up front because we made it difficult for ourselves in the closing stages."

Thomas Eichin: "The lads did really well; we had a good approach to the game, quick counterattacks and lots of possession. We need to take our chances. In the second half we tried to be too clever with the ball and lacked composure to score another goal. When you have a run of results, like us, you stay calm and manage to see out such games."

Levent Aycicek: "We created lots of chances but simply couldn't finish them. In the closing stages, Augsburg proved what quality they have in their team as they put a lot of pressure on us and made us tremble."

Thoughts on the secret of the team's success:

Levent Aycicek: "We're on a really good run. We look after ourselves and display real positive body language. That is the way to success."

Zlatko Junuzovic: "The body language is phenomenal. When you compare it with how we were a few months ago, it's like the difference between day and night. We have a young group here who simply have fun and the togetherness is fantastic. Everybody works for each other. The coaching staff lead us and we trust them."

Thomas Eichin: "The whole coaching team have done a superb job and have instilled self-confidence in the team. That brings results so it's no surprise that we win games. Everybody can see how we are developing. It was only a matter of time until the team stabilised their position."

Viktor Skripnik: "I have to pinch myself at time. What we've achieved is excellent and such victories give the team real self-confidence. We're playing football that the Werder fans want to see. It's very good for the team and shows that we're on the right track. We can be proud of the performances we're putting in for the fans as we have worked meticulously."

Thoughts on the current position in the table:

Fin Bartels: "I can't remember a time when a team has won five games in a row. It's a cracking achievement but we're not getting carried away. We know where we've come from so we've fared well up to now. We were bottom of the table five matchdays ago."

Zlatko Junuzovic: "Qualifying for Europe isn't important. The relegation battle is what matters so we've put ourselves in a good position."

Thomas Eichin: "We're enjoying the current situation. We knew that with a couple of victories we could move out of the danger zone but we also know that a few defeats could see us quickly drop back down the table."

Viktor Skripnik: "We cannot be sure of our safety with 29 points. A team got relegated last year with 26 points but it's a lot closer this year. We want to collect more points quickly and can't afford to rest on our laurels."

Thoughts on the upcoming game:

Thomas Eichin: "The lads should celebrate the result today and relax and tomorrow, they should rest. We'll begin to focus on the next task on Monday. We want to continue to develop however, this takes time. We're not going to go crazy. The team trust the coaching staff and we persevere every day.

Viktor Skripnik: "We want to continue to play attractive football and delight the fans. We know what's coming up. The fans can obviously continue to celebrate but we need to do our homework for the next game as soon as possible. We have difficult fixtures ahead of us with games against Schalke, Wolfsburg and Bayern."

Zlatko Junuzovic: "We have some tricky opponents coming up. There's no need to question our motivation; everybody is fired-up and will give everything. We're obviously going to suffer setbacks and go through minor crises but we've learnt how to deal with these. We can't kid ourselves; it's part of football. However, I sense a development and that makes me feel positive. We now want to make the next step which for me, means being consistent away from home and getting good results.
