Werder partnership with wohninvest terminated – club seeking new naming rights holder for stadium

The wohninvest WESERSTADION’s name will revert to simply the Weserstadion at the end of this month. Following the financial insolvency of the real estate group Wohninvest, all sponsorship agreements with the company are to be terminated on 30th June 2024.

Schmid nets first international goal, Veljkovic and Serbia eliminated

Romano Schmid and Marco Grüll are through to the second round at EURO 2024 after a 3-2 win for Austria over the Netherlands, which saw the former score his first international goal. Group favourites France could only manage a draw against Poland in Dortmund, leaving Ralf Rangnick’s side as group winners. Elsewhere, Milos Veljkovic and Serbia were unable to progress in Group C.

Green-Whites get points on the board at the EUROs

Two of our globetrotting Green-Whites have been able to celebrate their first points of EURO 2024 in the last couple of days. Milos Veljkovic’s Serbia scored a last-gasp equaliser to rescue a draw against Slovenia, while Romano Schmid made a cameo appearance in Austria’s 3-1 victory over Poland.

The 40-year-old, who has succeeded SVW's new managing director for sport Clemens Fritz in the role, most recently secured promotion to the second division as managing director for sport at Preußen Münster, but is now ready for his next chapter with the Green-Whites.
