SV Werder recorded their third straight victory on their travels away at VfL Wolfsburg on Sunday evening (4-2). The mood within the team was high following the win. WERDER.DE have summed up all the reaction from head coach Ole Werner and his players.

Head coach Ole Werner: “We got off to a good start, but then became a little sloppy. Nevertheless, we saw that the things that we’d set out to do could work well. Right in that phase was when Wolfsburg took the lead. It was important that we were able to find an equaliser before the break. We stuck to how we wanted to play and increased the quality and the accuracy of our play. We played some really good football, which isn’t easy to do here in Wolfsburg. That’s why I’m extremely satisfied with our performance and the result.”

Marco Friedl: “At the start, we were a bit surprised at how much space and time we had. But, we lacked accuracy and should have managed to pose more of a threat than we did. Despite losing our way for 10 to 15 minutes or so, we still had the feeling that we were in the game. Making it 1-1 just before half time gave us a lot of momentum. After their red card we could have managed to do a better job of seeing the game through to the end, because we really shouldn’t allow them any more chances at that point.”

Marco Grüll: “It was an incredibly important win today. The first half was end to end, but we were the better side after the break. We had more confidence in ourselves and were able to find the spaces more. The key thing was also that we were able to get off more shots. To score my first Bundesliga goal and my first goal for Werder makes me very happy.”

Mitchell Weiser: “I’m happy because we played well and scored nice goals. I think that we were strong in the first half as well, with the exception of the moments right after we conceded. We just didn’t manage to finish our chances at that point. Scoring just before the break allowed us to head into the break feeling good. We then did incredibly well in the second half and were rewarded for it.”

Marvin Ducksch: “We had a great opportunity to take the lead just a few seconds into the game. We also didn’t let our heads drop after conceding. We didn’t get angry at each other, but instead pushed each other on, something that was visible throughout the game and led us to deservedly win. I’m very happy to have scored today, after having missed a good opportunity just before.”

Felix Agu: “We started well but struggled a little bit after conceding. That’s why it was important that we scored ourselves just before the break. We came out of the dressing room in good spirits and keep pushing to score another. The red card also helped us to see the game out. We’re happy to have the three points.”
