Werder head coach Ole Werner was able to welcome two players back to training for the first session of the new week as the team prepares to face Bayer Leverkusen. Milos Veljkovic and Justin Njinmah both returned to team training for the first time since their injuries and will have their workload steadily increased throughout the week in order to get them ready for competitive action once more.

Over the course of the morning, Olivier Deman, Niklas Stark and Anthony Jung all completed individual sessions on the training pitch with rehabilitation coach Marcel Abanoz, while Marco Grüll undertook a running session and Marco Friedl worked individually indoors. Jens Stage and Skelly Alvero both remain absent.
