SV Werder recorded their third straight win on their travels away at VfL Wolfsburg on Sunday evening (4-2). The victory came at a cost, however, as Anthony Jung had to be taken off injured after 23 minutes, with Amos Pieper replacing him.
"Tony wasn't able to continue due to an adductor issue. We will need to keep an eye on him this week in order to determine whether he will be able to return against Leverkusen," said head coach Ole Werner.
Marco Grüll suffered a small wound on his foot following a rough challenge from Patrick Wimmer, which the VfL striker was duly sent off for. The wound required stitches, with Grüll set to train individually at the start of the week. Julian Malatini was taken off in the closing minutes, but has now been given the all-clear.
Milos Veljkovic, Justin Njinmah and Niklas Stark have all been working individually over the past weeks. Both Veljkovic and Njinmah will be eased back into team training this week, while Stark will continue training individually.
