Line-up and formation: Marco Grüll started in place of the injuredJustin Njinmah, in what was the only change from last weekend's winning side in Bochum.
Starting line-up: Zetterer - Stark, Friedl, Jung - Weiser, Lynen, Köhn - Stage, Schmid - Grüll, Ducksch
Bench: Backhaus - Deman, Pieper, Veljkovic, Burke, Hansen-Aarøen, Malatini, Alvero, Nankishi
First-half highlights:
2nd minute: Köhn receives the ball on the left flank and is able to force Vasilj into a save. The referee then blows his whistle – offside.
16th minute: A first sight of goal for the hosts, as Eggestein delivers a ball into the box. Stark is able to clear it in the nick of time.
19th minute: Zetterer makes his first save of the night, pushing Eggestein's shot out for a corner with a diving save.
24th minute: Deadlock broken! Stage does well to drive towards goal before picking out Köhn on the edge of the box. The Hamburg native takes aim with a lovely low shot that sails into the back of the net.
38th minute: St. Pauli's Saliakas takes aim from outside the area, but his shot is blocked by one of the many pairs of legs crowding the penalty box.
41st minute: Stage lays the ball off to Grüll, who is able to beat a couple of St. Pauli defenders before letting loose a shot from 16 metres out. Vasilj gets his hands up in time to push his powerful effort over the bar.
45th minute: Afolayan is able to get to the end of a long ball up the pitch and control the ball, but his effort goes over the target.
Second-half highlights:
47th minute: Schmid and Weiser link up to get the ball into the St. Pauli penalty box, allowing Grüll to get off a shot. His effort is deflected before being caught by Vasilj.
47th minute: The match is interrupted as heavy smoke covers the pitch due to pyrotechnics from both sets of fans. The teams head into the dressing room to wait for the smoke to clear.
48th minute: The smoke has dissipated and the referee gives the all-clear for the game to continue.
50th minute: Sinani is able to cut in from the right and get off a shot, but it goes over the crossbar.
54th minute: Once again, it's Sinani who is able to get off a shot, but this one is straight into the arms of Zetterer.
54th minute: 2-0 to Werder! A sumptuous pass from Weiser finds an unmarked Ducksch, as he powers home a shot to make it 2-0. What a finish! It's also Duckschi's 50th goal for the Green-Whites.
69th minute: FCSP continue to press for a goal of their own, as Boukhalfa takes aim from outside the box. Zetterer has to leap to get to it, punching the ball away from the top corner.
75th minute: Werder must defend another St. Pauli attack, giving up a free kick in a central position. Smith's attempt goes into the wall, however.
90th minute: Pieper drives forward and plays the ball to Burke. The Scotsman dribbles towards goal but his shot is straight into the arms of Vasilj.
90th minute +4 Full time! SV Werder take home all three points!
Summary: The Green-Whites did well to deal with the raucous atmosphere at the Millerntor-Stadion, including a break in play at the start of the second half due to pyrotechnic smoke. Ole Werner's team combined well to score two nice goals on the way to earning their fifth away win of the season.
