Köhn and Njinmah appear to have clicked instantly, but the connection with his fellow teammate from Hamburg is not in isolation, as Köhn explains: “In general, I have to say that the team is great and has taken to me really well. Everyone’s really helping me on the pitch, and you could see glimpses of what we’ve been working on in training in the first game. On the whole, I feel very comfortable here.”
Even if the final result ended 3-2 to Preußen Münster, Köhn certainly made a memorable first impression, as Werder’s head of professional football Peter Niemeyer commented: “I’m pleased Derrick’s got going straightaway by getting an assist. His effort is certainly evident, particularly concerning his deep runs in behind. That’s what we expect of him, and so we hope that he pushes on in the coming weeks.”
