Anthony Jung will be leaving SV Werder Bremen at the end of the 2024/25 season, following a decision from the club to not extend the defender's contract.
"We shared our decision in a meeting with Tony. With our focus already on the upcoming season, we wanted to make a change at this position in our defence in order to provide a new impetus and to contribute to the further development of the team. Tony has taken up an important role within the team over the last four years and has been a regular starter for us, especially during promotion and as we sought to reestablish ourselves in the top flight. Tony has always given 100% for Werder and we're confident that he will continue to do so," said Peter Niemeyer, SVW's head of professional football.
Jung joined the Green-Whites in summer 2021 from Brøndby IF and was part of Werder's promotion-winning squad. He has featured in 126 competitive games for the club, scoring six goals during this time.
