The DFB's sports tribunal has given Werder captain Marco Friedl a two-match suspension due to unsportsmanlike conduct following his red card against 1. FSV Mainz 05. The 26-year-old will therefore miss both the home game against FC Bayern München and the away game at TSG Hoffenheim.

The centre-back was sent off in the 60th minute of SVW's 2-1 win against 1. FSV Mainz 05 for what referee Benjamin Brand deemed a professional foul on Jonathan Burkardt.
