After the 2-1 win at 1. FSV Mainz 05 last Sunday, SV Werder have spent this week preparing for their second home game of the season. Almost like the olden days: Back in the day, SVW against FC Bayern often used to be a clash between two of the league’s best teams. Werder are currently undefeated since the loss at Bayer Leverkusen in April 2024, with only RB Leipzig presently on a longer unbeaten run in the division. FC Bayern, meanwhile, are top of the table for the first time in 2024 after winning their first three league games of the season under new coach Vincent Kompany, something last managed at the club six years ago by Niko Kovac.
