SV Werder Bremen have agreed a contract extension with 24-year-old defender Felix Agu. This was announced by head of professional football Peter Niemeyer ahead of the Green-Whites travelling to their training camp.
“Felix has fought his way back after a long time out with injury and made himself a key part of the team. We believe he still has the potential to develop even further, and we’re looking forward to continuing to work with him,” said Niemeyer.
Head coach Ole Werner is also looking forward to continuing to work with the full-back. “Felix has blistering pace, but his flexibility to be able to play on both sides is also a big strength. He developed really well last season and I’m sure he’ll continue on this path.”
The 24-year-old himself is also looking forward to his future at Werder. “I’ve been here for four years, and, since we were relegated, I think we’ve kept on getting better as a team and players have been able to develop at Werder. I feel at home in the team, the club and the city and think these are perfect conditions for me to take the next step in my career.”
Felix Agu joined SVW from VfL Osnabrück in 2020. The former Germany U21 international has made 72 competitive appearances for Werder since then, scoring twice.
