Ducksch tops goal involvement list, Zetterer hasn’t missed a minute

SV Werder Bremen took part in 33 league matches in 2024, picking up 51 points in the process as well as scoring 51 goals. WERDER.DE are taking a look back on the facts and figures from the last 12 months, as well as identifying which players were top of certain statistical categories.

Most goal involvements: Marvin Ducksch has once again been involved in the most goals for SVW for the second year running. The 30-year-old scored nine goals and set up a further 12 for his teammates. Mitchell Weiser (4 goals, 8 assists) and Romano Schmid (4 goals, 6 assists) were also able to rack up impressive numbers over the last year. This season, Jens Stage is currently top of the club’s internal goalscoring charts, with six goals.

Most minutes played: Goalkeeper Michael Zetterer did not miss a single minute in 2024, featuring for more than 2,970 minutes across 33 league games this year. Amongst outfielders, Romano Schmid featured for the most minutes in 2024 (2,713), having missed just 19 minutes of action this season. Marvin Ducksch is third in this category (2,678).

Most distance covered: Senne Lynen has covered the most ground of any player on the pitch in nearly every game he’s featured in for the Green-Whites. The 25-year-old ran a total of 342.69 kilometres in 2024, nearly as far as the distance from Bremen to his hometown of Antwerp. Romano Schmid (318.46km) and Mitchell Weiser (313.65km) also both broke the 300km mark this year.

Köhn is Werder’s fastest player; Jung with the most touches

Top speed: Derrick Köhn was clocked at a top speed of 35.81 km/hour against SC Freiburg, making him the fastest Werder player this year. He beat Justin Njinmah’s previous best of 35.53km/h, set in the second half of last season. Felix Agu (34.91 km/h), Senne Lynen (34.4 km/h), Romano Schmid (34.14 km/h) and Oliver Burke (34 km/h) were also all clocked above 34 km/h this year.

Most touches: Anthony Jung managed the most touches of any Werder player over the last year (1,984). Midfielders Senne Lynen (1,708) and Romano Schmid (1,705) were just behind him in the ranking. This season, captain Marco Friedl has had the most touches of the ball across Werder’s 15 league games so far (954).

Most shots: Marvin Ducksch has taken the most shots of any of his teammates in 2024 (98), as well at setting up an additional 31 attempts. Mitchell Weiser (44) and Romano Schmid (40) are behind him in this ranking. Jens Stage has also managed an impressive return in 2024/25, needing just 17 shots to score seven times.
