SV Werder secured a win in their 1000th Bundesliga away game thanks to a convincing performance. The head coach and players were all in good spirits following the 3-0 win. WERDER.DE summarises head coach Ole Werner & Co.’s comments.
Head coach Ole Werner: “Overall, there were a lot of good things today. The discipline the team implemented our plan with was important. The boys did a super job and left everything out on the pitch. We didn’t create much threatening from our good play in the first half, but the opening goal then helped open up more space. We put in a really good performance from the first minute until the last.”
Marco Friedl: “We put in a really good away performance over the course of the 90 minutes – it was a thoroughly deserved win. We hardly gave any chances away. We could’ve played even better with the ball in the first half and we then did exactly that after the break. We built on the performance from the first 45 minutes and just scored the goals. I’m very proud of the team.”
Marvin Ducksch: “We’ve taken a big step forwards in the last week – we built on the last performance and put in an outstanding performance from the first minute until the last. Everything played out exactly as we planned for and trained for it to. We were constantly threatening in the final third, even though the final pass was missing initially. Now we’re looking forward to next week as there are more points available again. We’re not satisfied yet with the 37 that we’ve got.”
Romano Schmid: “It was a great away performance from us. Playing here isn’t easy, but we accepted the challenge head-on. We got the ball into the final third a lot, but we couldn’t always find the final ball. After the break, we aimed to start being more clinical. We managed to do that well, even though there were a couple of times where we missed out. We’ve got 37 points now. It’s good, but we want more.”

Felix Agu: “We saw last week that, with enough fight, attitude and determination, anything is possible. It worked again today and we’ll happily take the three points. We had a lot of space in the first half but didn’t exploit it well enough. In the dressing room, we spoke about playing with more efficiency. The free-kick opened the floodgates and we played well up until the final whistle after that.”
