SV Werder are pleased that Bundesliga football is back on Sunday afternoon (17.09.2023) at 15:30 CEST after the international break. Before his side takes on 1. FC Heidenheim at the Voith-Arena , head coach Ole Werner answered the media’s questions in his press conference on Friday.

After the 4-0 win against 1. FSV Mainz 05, SV Werder took a great deal of momentum into the training weeks during the international break. “We’ve trained well and are looking forward to the task,” head coach Ole Werner said. “If we produce a complete performance on the pitch, then we can be successful – yet that still doesn’t guarantee our success. Our mission is to transfer our quality to the pitch and to play our own game.

FCH currently have five players with a Werder past in the form of Marnon Busch, Patrick Mainka, Jan-Niklas Beste, Norman Theuerkauf and Eren Dinkci. “Eren has had a good start to the start to the season in a position we don’t have many resources in,” Werner said, discussing loanee Dinkci. “That’s certainly something that you expect from a loan deal. He’s definitely a player we need to keep an eye on.”

Heidenheim have picked up a solitary point from their opening three games against Wolfsburg (2-0 defeat), Hoffenheim (3-2 defeat) and Dortmund (2-2). “They have matched their opponents for long periods in all of their games and were even the better team in some phases,” warned head coach Werner. “They are a team who are very strong at home – it’s always tough to play in Heidenheim. I’m expecting a tough match as is the case with every Bundesliga fixture, but also an even one.”
