Both SV Werder Bremen and Amos Pieper were dealt a major blow on Wednesday afternoon, as the centre-back suffered a break to his right ankle in training. Further examinations carried out by team doctor Dr. Georg Tsironis in Bremen confirmed the severity of his injury after the session. The 25-year-old will have to undergo an operation and is set for a spell on the sidelines for the time being.
“This is terrible news for Amos. He will be operated on very soon and we hope that he’ll be able to start his rehabilitation programme as quickly as he can. We’ll give him all the support he needs along the way, and hope that we can have him back in and around the team as soon as possible. However, we won't be able to have him in our plans again until the new year,” explained head coach Ole Werner.
