SV Werder left the Vonovia-Ruhrstadion pleased with a point following a late equaliser in their 1-1 draw against VfL Bochum. At the same time, the Green-Whites players saw possibilities and phases of the game where they could have done more to get a win. WERDER.DE has all of the immediate reaction to the game.

Ole Werner: "If you are able to get an equaliser in the closing stages, that speaks volumes to the morale in the team. Still, I would have liked to have picked up two points more. It has to be said that it was a fair result judging by the performance. Both teams scored with shots from distance, and the game was otherwise level. I am pleased with how the boys played. Not many teams this season have come out in top in Bochum and matched them on the pitch. It’s a shame that we didn’t start well in the 15 minutes after half time. We lost balls much too quickly again and didn’t play tidy in the few moments we had in the final third, which we had opportunities earlier on to do. This didn't come out on the pitch for us today, so we only came away with one point.”

Niklas Stark: "We obviously wanted the three points, but after such a physically demanding, hectic game, we will take a point. We would have had to play like we did in the first half for the entire 90 minutes to have got more out of the game. We showed our footballing approach in the first half. In the second half, we weren’t 100% on it, which is something that we'll have to analyse. Praise to the players who came on, they really ramped up the pressure again, threw themselves into it, got the ball forward and gave the team energy to help us get into goal-scoring situations.”

Marco Friedl: “When a game goes like that, we can be happy to come away with a point. It’s also true that there could’ve been more in it for us if we had handled certain situations better. The game was highly competitive with lots of fouls, and it was especially difficult for our forwards. We didn’t start well in the second half and allowed Bochum too much of the ball. The 1-1 result was fair in the balance of play, so neither team can complain about coming away with a point.”

Leonardo Bittencourt: "The result was fair for both sides. Neither team gave the other anything. It was the kind of game that we expected and that we had prepared for. If we had done a couple of things better, we could have also taken the lead and got more out of the game. We had some opportunities on the counter where we weren't tidy enough with our passes. We didn’t allow much past us, even if we didn't do as well in the second half as we did in the first. So, with all things considered, we’ll take a point.”
