Romano Schmid found the back of the net three times and made five assists for Werder in the second half of the season alone, as well as having a hand in his first goal for Austria in their friendly win against Turkey in March. After making his mark with the national side, the 24-year-old received a deserved call-up for their final friendlies ahead of EURO 2024 against Serbia (04/06, 20:45 CEST) and Switzerland (08/06, 18:00 CEST), along with Werder’s new summer signing Marco Grüll. The pair will have to prove themselves worthy of making an appearance at this year's tournament, which will be hosted in Germany, as head coach Ralf Rangnick will need to cut three players when selecting the Austrian squad. Unfortunately, Marco Friedl did not make the cut this time round, but is, however, on standby for the ÖFB.
Milos Veljkovic has been selected for Serbia’s provisional squad, and will likely face off against his fellow Green-Whites in their friendly clash at the Wiener Ernst-Happel-Stadion. The side will then travel to Stockholm to take on Sweden on 8th June (18:00 CEST), where Werder’s number 13 will need to impress if he is to avoid being cut by head coach Dragan Stojkovic and make his first ever appearance at the tournament.
After being named in the starting XI for Belgium’s meeting with Ireland in the previous international break, Olivier Deman is hoping to receive a call-up up to the Red Devils' provisional squad, who will be hosting friendlies against Montenegro (05/06, 20:30 CEST) and Luxembourg (08/06, 20:00 CEST). Head coach Domenico Tedesco is set to announce who he will bring along to EURO 2024 on 28th May. Isak Hansen-Aarøen will also be in action for Norway U21s in their friendly against Denmark, which will take place in Marbella on 6th June (18:00 CEST).
