Romano Schmid and Marco Grüll are through to the second round at EURO 2024 after a 3-2 win for Austria over the Netherlands, which saw the former score his first international goal. Group favourites France could only manage a draw against Poland in Dortmund, leaving Ralf Rangnick’s side as group winners. Elsewhere, Milos Veljkovic and Serbia were unable to progress in Group C.

Milos Veljkovic’s tournament, however, has come to an end after a 0-0 draw against Denmark left them bottom of Group C on two points from their three games. Werder’s number 13 played every minute of the group stage for his country. Denmark, though, did progress, and will face hosts Germany in their next game on Saturday (21:00 CEST) in Dortmund.
