Reaction to the friendly match against Drochtersen/Assel

Head coach Ole Werner: “For us, it was about being back on the pitch in competitive conditions for the first time. Especially in the first half, you could see that we have worked hard in the last few days. Then in the second we played at a higher tempo and the difference in quality was also clear. Overall, it was a very well-fought friendly.”

Marco Friedl: “We know ourselves that we weren’t good in the first half. Nevertheless, we could have made more of one or two situations. In the second half, we played very well, and there was link-up play that we had been working on in training over the last few days. We still have a lot to do, Drochtersen were a worthy opponent. It was a good friendly.”

Dawid Kownacki: “Of course, I’m happy that I scored my first goal in my first game. It was our first friendly and we still have a lot of time before the first competitive match. The atmosphere within the team is very good and the boys talk to me a lot. So far I feel very much at home here.”

Justin Njinmah: “It was cool to play for the first team for the first team. A few things in our game weren’t quite there yet, but that’s normal. We still need to get to know each other, but that will come over the course of pre-season.”
