"Mio is at a point in his development where it is extremely important for him to play regularly at a high level. Backhaus joined Werder from Alemmania Aachen's youth set-up, and featured 16 times for our U19s in the U19 Bundesliga last season. He played a further nine matches with the Werder U23s in the Regionalliga Nord.
