SV Werder Bremen have made another addition to their squad for the upcoming season in the form of Skelly Alvero, who will remain at the club on a permanent basis. SVW's head of professional football Clemens Fritz announced the decision to sign the midfielder on Monday. After joining Werder on loan from Olympique Lyonnais in January, the 22-year-old has put pen to paper and signed a permanent deal with the Green-Whites ahead of the start of the coming campaign.

Clemens Fritz was full of praise for Alvero’s efforts both on and off the field. “Although Skelly didn’t make as many appearances for us as we had hoped due to injury, we were really impressed with both his footballing ability and attitude away from the pitch. We’re delighted to have him on board permanently,” he said.

Head coach Ole Werner is also thrilled to have the 2.02 metre Frenchman in his ranks for the 2024/25 campaign. “Skelly strengthens our squad with his physicality and quality on the pitch. We know for a fact that he still has the potential to progress further and we want to help him reach the next level in his development.”

The midfielder is feeling optimistic about a future on the Weser, adding: “I feel at home at Werder and am really happy that I can continue playing here. I wanted to sign a permanent deal from the moment I arrived. We’ve got a great team and have developed really well over the last few months. I want to keep progressing here and help contribute towards the team’s success.”

Skelly Alvero joined the Green-Whites on loan from Olympique Lyonnais during the January transfer window. The 22-year-old returned to the squad in the last game of the 2024/25 season after spending a number of weeks on the sidelines due to a shoulder injury, before which he made six appearances for the Green-Whites and scored one goal.
