Clemens Fritz confirmed on Wednesday afternoon that 27-year-old goalkeeper Michael Zetterer has extended his contract with Werder Bremen.
“In Zetti we have a really supportive figure within our ranks, who has proven his qualities on several occasions. We are delighted that he sees his future at the club and that we can continue to build together,” explained SVW’s head of scouting and professional football.
Christian Vander, Werder’s head goalkeeping coach, was also delighted with Zetterer’s extension: “Zetti has come a long way in recent months and is a really important member of the team. He has earned this contract extension through his hard work. From our point of view, it’s a matter of continuing to channel his potential.”
“I signed my first contract at Werder around eight years ago. A lot has happened since then and both the club and the city have become my second homes. I am proud that I can continue to wear the Werder jersey into the future,” said Zetterer.
Michael Zetterer joined Werder from SpVgg Unterhaching in 2015. During his time in Bremen he has had loan spells at SK Austria Klagenfurt and PEC Zwolle. He has made 13 competitive appearances so far for the Green-Whites and was able to make his Bundesliga debut earlier in the season against Augsburg.
