SV Werder Bremen set off for their winter training camp on Monday, 2nd January 2023 with 28 players on board. Ole Werner’s team will be working together in Murcia in southern Spain until Monday, 9th January.

Alongside the goalkeeping quartet of Jiri Pavlenka, Michael Zetterer, Eduardo Dos Santos Haesler and Mio Backhaus, 24 outfield players are also making the trip to Spain. U23s players Tom Berger, Tim-Justin Dietrich, Marc Schröder and Lasse Rosenboom will be travelling alongside captain Marco Friedl and his fellow first-teamers, while goalkeeper Louis Lord will remain in Bremen to prepare for the upcoming Regionalliga Nord fixtures together with his U23s teammates. Felix Agu is also staying behind to work on an individual training programme.

The week in Spain will have plenty of intense training sessions, as well as friendlies against Real Murcia (4th January, 12:30 CET) and FC St. Gallen (8th January, 15:30 CET). Both matches will take place at the Pinatar-Arena in Murcia and will be streamed live on Werder’s YouTube channel courtesy of our partners EWE. The Green-Whites’ first training session will be on Monday afternoon after their arrival at the hotel.

Clemens Fritz, director of football and scouting: “We worked with a lot of focus and intensity prior to Christmas. Ole was very happy with the level the boys produced. We gave the lads some training plans for the Christmas break, and I expect that they’re in good shape for the coming days. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone again and to a positive training camp with good conditions.”
