As always, his team went over the match the day after in training and then began preparing for their next opponent. “We can’t replay the game, but just draw our own conclusions from it,” said Werner. “We will field the eleven players that we believe have the best chance of winning the game. We are also not looking to just draw a line there, but use training, match and long-term performance, as well as tactics.
Their opponents are again proving a top side and they sit in third place at the moment. “They are a team that plays physically and unpleasantly and are rightly near the top,” admitted Werner. “This game is important for us as a group, but it is also important that we move on afterwards and prepare for the next match. We need to react to matches in the right way, and that now means that we need to improve considerably.” The 34-year-old, however, sees this home game as a great chance: “The fact is that we can end the first half of the season with 24 points, which is enough to motivate us all.”
