It was an emotional night in Bremen as Claudio Pizarro officially hung up his boots with a spectacular fiesta. “Piza” and his former teammates were holding back the tears as they put on an incredibly emotional show at the wohninvest WESERSTADION.

The reaction to Claudio Pizarro’s testimonial:

Naldo: “I had seven fantastic years in Bremen and I spent it with great people like Piza. He is a tremendous footballer with a big heart. Claudio was a very dangerous striker who was always involved in the goals. He always gave it 100%, he was a great role model and a real fan favourite. I am really happy that I could be a part of it but it also hurts to not be able to play anymore. This is the case for many of us here, but we’ve had lots of fun being able to play at such a great event today.”

Max Kruse: “Coming back here is always something special. It was a fantastic farewell for Claudio and a great experience for all involved. I have only positive memories of playing with Claudio. He is a really genuine guy. He was always very open and very warm, both in private and on the pitch. He always brought a certain composure to the team which helped us a lot.”

Marco Bode: “It was a fantastic day and it was lots of fun. I hope we have given Claudio a real highlight at the end of his career. He certainly deserves a day like this. He is one of the best players I have ever played with. He has everything you need as a striker. He’s ice-cold, clever, quick, headstrong and really good technically. This is why he had such a good career. We only played together very briefly when he was just starting out, but it was clear to me after only a few weeks that he was going to have a fantastic career. He brings so much to the table and he also has the personality to be able to have fun and still be very serious on the pitch.”

Markus Rosenberg: “It was a fabulous little reunion of former teammates. We had some amazing moments together. I lived in Bremen for a long time and they were the best days of my career away from home. I’m really happy to have played in front of the Werder fans again. It was a great feeling.”
