Defender to undergo an ankle operation

SV Werder Bremen will be without Amos Pieper for the remaining three games of the season. The 25-year-old will undergo an operation for an ongoing ankle problem.

“Losing Amos for the final few matchdays is really disappointing, but an operation is necessary due to his ongoing ankle issue. Amos has been available in recent weeks despite his problems and we delayed the operation. However, after speaking to him we have now decided to let him undergo the operation,” said head coach Ole Werner.

Pieper played 29 times in the Bundesliga for SVW in his debut season, scoring two goals. He also appeared twice in the DFB-Pokal.
