92nd minute: After a Paderborn corner, Werder initiate a counterattack. Leo Bittencourt hooks the ball through to Eren Dinkci, who runs through on goal, but is stopped on the edge of the penalty area.
98th minute: The octopus keeps Werder in the game! Pavlenka punches the ball away from danger, but it’s returned back into the box where Pavlas is there to make another decisive save. Very important play from Pavlenka.
101st minute: Now it’s Werder’s time to attack. Nikas Schmidt crosses to Eren Dinkci who skilfully brings the ball down from the aid. The ball is deflected out of play as he tries to dribble into the box. It’s a Werder corner.
101st minute: There is the lead (supposedly)! Ilia Gruev finds Niclas Füllkrug from the corner who buries it into the net with a header. During Werder’s celebration, there are a host of complaints from the Paderborn sideline and players. Referee Willenborg consults with his assistants and decides to have the corner retaken as there was deemed to be a Bremen foul in the build up. Odd.
111th minute: Jiri Pavlenka comes out to clear a long ball into his area from Paderborn, although the shot-stopper doesn’t quite connect with it properly. The ball lands at the feet of Niclas Füllkrug, but Paderborn are able to poach the ball back quickly. They come again on the counter, but Pavlas distinguishes himself with a fine save.
113th minute: Yet again Paderborn counter, this time down the right flank. Bittencourt makes a pivotal block to prevent the ball coming into the box.
119th minute: Paderborn have a goal ruled out! Following a swift counterattack, Pavlenka is able to parry, but all Fabio Chiarodia can do is clear it out for a corner. After lots of pushing and shoving the ball ends up in the back of Werder’s net. The referee blows his whistle for another foul and chalks it off.
120th minute: That’s that! The game heads to penalties.
