A clash under the floodlights with Borussia Mönchengladbach awaits Ole Werner’s side on Saturday evening (18:30 CEST). In Friday’s presser, the Werder head coach discussed the importance of occasions such as these. “I want a team that plays football with passion. But it is always important to be able to keep your emotions in check and to concentrate on the task,” said the 34-year-old.
According to Ole Werner, there are certain parallels between Borussia Mönchengladbach and Werder Bremen: “Gladbach are a similar club to us in the sense that they stand for a certain brand of football and this style is back on show this year.” The head coach was also full of praise for Daniel Farke’s side: “They have a good structure and they go about their processes well. They look to play out from the back and they have an exceptional footballing quality that you don’t see every day in the Bundesliga.”
The Green-Whites are yet to win at home in the Bundesliga this season, but Ole Werner is adamant that like won’t faze his side at the weekend. “This isn’t in the forefront of our minds. We are simply looking to bring our best performance. We are very happy with how things are going right now and if you look at the performances, we’ve by no means played any worse at home than we have in our away games.”
