After a long day of travelling and a first, more relaxed session of SVW’s winter training camp in Murcia in Spain, Ole Werner answered questions from the media after training. Werner spoke about…
…the training camp in Spain: “Last year it was not possible, so we are even happier to be here this year. We arrived according to schedule and feeling good. As expected, it is much warmer than back home, so we are happy that we will be able to have a week of good work here.”
…the plan for the training camp: “This week we have two friendlies, so we will build up the intensity and the training around these two games. The bottom line is that it is about getting back our match sharpness. The key things to work on are our own possession and how we can play against deep-lying opponents. On the other hand, we also want to become more clear in how to open up games and create more options for ourselves.”
…the opportunity provided by the training camp: “We are going to rotate a lot in the friendlies to give the boys the opportunity to show what they can do. It would be nice if there was perhaps a positive surprise in doing this. Maybe a player here or there that hasn’t had much playing time up until now will be able to put on some pressure. For us as a group, that would definitely be something worth wishing for.”
… Nicolai Rapp’s loan move: “Rappo came to us asking for a move, which we then agreed to. He has taken on this role in the first half of the year and done it well, but he wants to play a different role. I hope that he is able to use this half year to get more gametime with a strong team.”
…possible new signings: “There is always a sporting assessment, but also a financial one. Everyone knows that we are not the best off in this regard. In the transfer window it is always the case that anything can happen, but it is not like there is currently anyone standing knocking on the door.”
…Niclas Füllkrug: He is in good condition physically and feels fit – he came back exactly as we know him. Fülle is really important for the team with the way he sets an example, which is not related to his performance at the World Cup."
