SV Werder Bremen will face Hannover 96 in a friendly during the international break. On Thursday, 22nd October, at 16:00 CEST, the Green-Whites will take on their second-division opposition. Fans can watch the match live on WERDER.TV thanks to our partner, EWE, as well as on the club’s official YouTube channel. “It’s an important friendly for us. Those players who haven’t featured as much in recent weeks will be able to get plenty of game time. We also want to see how well we’ve internalised our style of play as a team,” said head coach Ole Werner.

The squad: The head coach will be without Jiri Pavlenka, Marco Friedl, Romano Schmid, Milos Veljkovic, Mio Backhaus and Fabio Chiarodia, who are all away on international duty. Dikeni Salifou and Manuel Mbom, who are both still working on their comebacks, will also not feature. Leonardo Bittencourt has also not yet recovered from his upper body injury.

The head coach on the opponent: “We are up against a very strong opponents. Hannover are a strong second-division side, who are deservedly competing for promotion. It will be a real challenge,” said the 34-year-old.

The recent meetings: The two sides met in a friendly during the winter break in January, as the match ended in a 2-2 draw (Goals: Niklas Schmidt, Marvin Ducksch - Sebastian Kerk, Cedric Teuchert). Their last competitive meeting took place in the second half of the 2021/22 season, with Werder winning 4-1 away thanks to goals from Romano Schmid, Marvin Ducksch, Anthony Jung and Marco Friedl (Kerk scored for Hannover).
