It is slowly building up again. Marvin Ducksch is feeling this tingling, the anticipation of Bundesliga games again. If he's honest, he says he's had enough of the preparation. At the moment Ducksch & Co are preparing for the second half of the season in the team’s training camp in Murcia. Spain, sun, and spring temperatures. Optimal conditions for a football team that is always wanting to improve. "We didn't do everything perfectly in the first half of the season either, we're working on plenty of small issues," reveals Ducksch. "It's getting better and better bit by bit, then we have to implement it in the games."

Marvin Ducksch is experiencing the heyday of his career. His statistics read like a picture book. 23 goals, 16 assists. In his 45 competitive games for Werder, the attacker has contributed to the club’s resurgence and the good start to the season. And even if Ducksch had to wait seven games for his first goal of the season, a lack of goals has in no way diminished his performances. "I don't measure myself by goals, if the team and coach don't do that either, it's all the better for me," says the native of Dortmund. "I try to help my team with my strengths."

Ducksch plays a key role in head coach Ole Werner's team. The head coach has named his number "7" in the starting line-up in all 15 league games. Ducksch has repaid the trust with his performances. Especially when on the ball, he has been getting involved behind the last line of defence. Ducksch gets on really well with strike partner Niclas Füllkrug. "We have certain strengths that we want to incorporate on the pitch," said Ducksch regarding strike partner Füllkrug. “We are very special guys. It worked out quickly that we understood how the other ticks.”

A functioning strike duo is a good prerequisite for a successful season. The Green-Whites want to build on the good course of the season thus far. There is a double-game week just around the corner to kick off the restart, in which no team wants to be hungover from the holidays. "If we give just one percent less than in the first 15 games, then it won't be enough," emphasized Ducksch. “We have made it very clear that we must not rest. The quality of training has increased, so you can see that everyone is up for it.”
