Werder's friendly away against SV Meppen, originally planned for Thursday at the Hänsch-Arena, has been postponed. The Meppen pitch cannot be played on due to icy temperatures.
"It's obviously a great shame, as we would have liked to play in front of fans one more time before Christmas. But the game just can't take place. We will look for a new date in summer and play in Meppen," explained Clemens Fritz, Werder's head of Scouting and Professional Scouting.
There will still be sport to enjoy on Thursday, however, as the Green-Whites take on SV Meppen behind closed doors on at Platz 11. "We have checked into whether we could get fans into Platz 11, but it's too short notice to fulfill all the logistical requirements," Fritz explained.
Werder fans will be able to watch the match, however. Thanks to club partner EWE, the match will be free to view on the club YouTube channel and on WERDER.TV.
