Yannik Engelhardt, who has spent the last two seasons on loan to SC Freiburg, won’t be returning to SV Werder Bremen after Freiburg triggered the option to buy the 22-year-old midfielder, as confirmed by Clemens Fritz, chief of scouting and first-team football.

“Yannik has come on very well during his last 24 months in Freiburg, so much so that SC wanted to keep him. We’d like to wish Yannik all the best for the future, both on and off the pitch,” commented Fritz.

Yannik Engelhardt joined Werder’s academy from JFV Eichsfeld in 2015, and played for all of Werder’s youth teams up to the U23s. He has spent the last two seasons at Freiburg, making 54 3. Liga opponents for SC Freiburg II and scoring three goals.
