During Werder’s 2-1 cup win over Energie Cottbus on Monday evening, both Leonardo Bittencourt and Lee Buchanan had to be substituted due to muscular complaints. On Tuesday, the all-clear was given for both players. Examinations from club doctor Dr. Georg Tsironis revealed no structural damage in either player. All other Werder players completed the game without any problems.

Bittencourt and Buchanan completed an individual training session on Tuesday with the recently ill duo of Niklas Stark and Abdenego Nankishi, as well as injured players Benjamin Goller and Eren Dinkci. Buchanan and Bittencourt are expected to return to first-team training in the near future. The return of the other players will be decided in the coming days.
