Werder will now face FC Schalke 04 this coming weekend, another direct rival for staying in the league, which could be secured for Werder if results in other games go their way. Nevertheless, they have to face their own task, which will not be an easy one according to the 31-year-old. “We’re facing an opponent who didn’t play well at the weekend and now wants to come back strong at home. We are also expecting a good atmosphere; I’m looking forward to the game.” To secure another win, the momentum from last Saturday should help in particular.
For Jung personally, it could be his 30th appearance in the 30th league game of the season. Even though he seems to have cemented his place at left-back in his first season as a Bundesliga player, he is still humble. “Of course, I am happy that I have stayed fit and health and have been able to play the games. There is still room for improvement, however,” he said, not only wanting to develop himself, but also his teammates. “The better a player becomes, the more it raises the performance of the team,” explained Jung, especially referring to his fellow left-back Lee Buchanan. “I’ll always give him my advice and do my best to help him develop. I will be there for him if there are specific things to address.”
