The start of the new year also brings changes to SV Werder Bremen’s management team, with president Dr. Hubertus Hess-Grunewald stepping down from his role as CEO of the KGaA. In doing so, the 62-year-old is allowing for the structural reforms that were agreed upon at the general members’ meeting in November to enter into effect. Anne-Kathrin Laufmann has joined the club’s executive board, effective 1st January 2023. The board had previously been expanded to four members back in September.

Tarek Brauer was called up to join the SVW management team as of 1st September 2022. Brauer had previously been employed as the director of legal and human resources for the executive board. His main responsibilities include personnel, legal and compliance matters, real estate, security & matchday operations, infrastructure and IT.

Anne-Kathrin Laufmann was employed as the club’s director of CSR until 1st September 2022, at which point she was made a member of the executive board, a role which officially began on 1st January 2023. Laufmann will be responsible for the areas of club development, fans, fan relations & fan culture, as well as the club’s other professional teams in table tennis, handball and chess. The overarching topic of sustainability, which includes diversity, social and community engagement and environmental protection will also fall under her range of responsibilities. Structurally, the role is meant to work closely with the e.V.

With the expansion to a four-person management team since September 2022, SV Werder Bremen are taking steps to meet the increase in responsibilities and steer the future-oriented development of the e.V., as well as meet the expanded licensing requirements of the DFL. In doing so, the club sees itself as being well equipped for the future.
