The wohninvest WESERSTADION’s name will revert to simply the Weserstadion at the end of this month. Following the financial insolvency of the real estate group Wohninvest, all sponsorship agreements with the company are to be terminated on 30th June 2024.

"We are currently in talks about new solutions for the naming rights to our stadium. As a result of the renovation work carried out between 2008 and 2010, the stadium must generate a required amount of financing to cover costs. The economic necessity of this measure is clear, on behalf of the city, the club, and Bremer Weser-Stadion GmbH,” explained Klaus Filbry, chief executive at SV Werder Bremen.

What name the Green-Whites’ home ground will take next is yet to be finalised. “We’re currently in various talks. Whether it will ultimately be a sale of the entire name, a title sponsorship like with wohninvest or another variant isn’t yet clear,” continued Filbry.

SV Werder has given itself until early next year to find a new partner. “It’s a complex and emotionally sensitive issue. We want to find a good and practical solution, so we will take our time,” explained the the club’s head of commercial operations.
